In order to prevent the spread of influenza A (H1N1) infection in Japan, various measures were taken. Although most domestic patients only had mild symptoms and recovered completely, Kansai District suffered a sharp drop in the number of visitors as most of the cases reported in Japan were in this area.
To try and reassure people, Hyogo Prefecture, Kobe City, and Kyoto Prefecture have each in turn declared their region safe and in line with this, KIX invited the Taiwanese media to cover Kansai tourism as one of the measures to increase the number of visitors. This was done by the association responsible for promoting Kansai International airport in cooperation with various organizations that work to promote the region Taiwanese media spent 3 enjoyable days covering hot shopping areas and sightseeing spots in Kansai District as well as visiting shops and restaurants popular with foreigners in KIX.
