Message from the New President

I would like to take this occasion to introduce myself. I am Shinichi Fukushima, successor of Mr. Atsushi Murayama, ex-president, and I am very proud to introduce myself on this KIX News.
This September, KIX celebrates the 15th anniversary since its opening September 1994. I thank you for your warm support over the years.
KIX became Japan's first round-the-clock international airport with multiple 4,000-meter runways, with the second runway opening in 2007.
KIX was also ranked the world's 6th best airport in 2009 in a worldwide airports survey. This is the top rank for Japanese airports and KIX is the only Japanese airport ranked among the world's top 10 for six consecutive years.
Due to the global economic stagnation and spread of influenza A infection, although tough times seem to be continuing, economic globalization will progress rapidly, especially in Asia. In the future, KIX will surely play an important role.
KIX will carry out an important mission as the gateway airport to & from Asia and the world, and it will contribute to the development and growth of Japan, as well as Kansai and West Japan.
We would like to continue our efforts to promote convenience and comfort to respond to the passengers' expectations, focusing mainly on safety and security.
I would like to ask for your continuous support. Thank you.

New cargo route, KIX-Los Angeles, is added to KIX by China Airlines (CI). This Taiwanese airline inaugurates this cargo route from Thursday 27th August.
In response to the results of the investigation of manufacturing companies in Kansai region, where they especially point out the lack of network between KIX and North America, Kansai International Airport Co., Lt. is appealing for a strong response from airlines to open new routes.
Because of this request, China Airlines has decided to inaugurate a direct cargo route, KIX-LAX, which is also needed in North America.
