Expansion of International Flight Network
The strategic charge scheme to strengthen international competitiveness such as drastic discount for international landing fee executed since last autumn, and business effort like airport sales promotion by Kansai International Airport Co., Ltd.(KIAC), are bearing fruit. About 80 international flights will be increased after the winter 2009 flight schedule due to the above measures. KIAC will continue the effort to expand the international flight network to improve convenience for passengers.

Kansai Food Cultural Event Held
An event for gastronomic cultures in Kansai district and a promotion of those to foreign tourists was held in Kansai International Airport (KIX). This was just in time for Chinese New Year vacation and many tourists from east Asia increase at this time. At the international departure lobby, breweries from Kyoto served Japanese sake to the tourists drawn from a classic sake barrel, and rice-cake workmen from Nara prefecture pounded steamed rice with a mallet in a mortar at full speed to promote Kansai gastronomic culture with the aim of making foreign tourists revisit Kansai. KIAC would like to show that there are a lot of charms in Kansai besides Okonomiyaki and Takoyaki. Kansai has many things which foreign tourists will love and keep coming back for.
