New International Routes

[China Airlines Will Launch a Route Taipei=KIX =New York]
On Friday, April 29, China Airlines will begin service Taipei=KIX=New York route.
This includes the first direct flight between KIX and New York since KIX started operating in 1994. This route will be launched with much interest and excitement.

Adding it, Taipei= KIX route, which has already been launched, will begin additional flight service. It will make it possible to have a one day-round-trip between KIX to Taipei.

[Shandong Airlines will launch a route KIX =Jinan=Xian]
On Tuesday, March 29, Shandong Airlines will start a new route, KIX = Jinan = Xian. KIX= Jinan route, which has already been operating, will be expanded to Xian. Xian is the biggest city in the western part of China and is well-known as the most prosperous capital city of Tang in ancient times. Increase in demand will be expected for both business and tourism.

‘IATA ENVIRONMENT EXHIBITION’is Now on Display

From January 21, ‘IATA ENVIRONMENT EXHIBITION,’which introduces efforts to protect the environment, was made by the aviation industry, IATA (International Air Transport Association).
This exhibition has traveled to airports around the world, it started with Europe, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, and other airports. This is the first case for Japanese airports.
Shaped like an engine of airplane, the history of aviation and IATA’s efforts to protect the environment are introduced with images and solid displays inside.
Survey of Industry Cargo Demand at KIX Indicates High Demand for Services to North America and Europe in the Early Morning and Late at Night

On December 10, The International Logistics Strategies Team (comprised of industry, academia and government members from the Kansai region) released the results of its survey 2010 of industry demand on freighter routes at Kansai International Airport.
The survey was distributed to companies that have production and logistic bases at Kansai between August and September. Answers were collected from 117 companies.
The greatest demand was for the North American route, which was most in demanded in the last survey, at 25.9% followed by Europe at 24.8%, which together amount to almost half of the overall demand. China and Southeast Asia were next at 21.1% and 14.0%, respectively. And the greatest demand by respective time was in the early morning and late at night (11:00pm-5:59am) at 45.1%.
The overview of demand for respective destinations is as shown below:

• North America: Demand for cargo services to destinations here is the strongest. Amount of demand 11:00pm - 5:59am and 6:00am - 11:59 was over 60%. Especially, Chicago and New York are in high demand because there are lacks of direct flights.
Popular cities: Chicago (28%), Los Angeles (21%), New York (13%), Atlanta (12%) etc.
Respective time: 11:00pm -5:59am (45%), 6:00am - 11:59am (21%), 12:00pm - 5:59pm (14%), 6:00pm -10:59pm (20%).
Europe: Of the total demand, 11:00pm-5:59am and 6:00pm-10:59pm is 70% in terms of requests for cargo services from individual companies. Frankfurt and Amsterdam are in high demand for 24 hours. London is in high demand 11:00pm - 5:59am.
Popular cities : Frankfurt (28%), Amsterdam (12%), Paris (12%), Milan(11%) etc.
Respective time: 11:00pm - 5:59am (42%), 6:00am -11:59am (20%), 12:00pm to 5:59pm (10%), 6:00pm - 10:59pm (28%).
·China: Shanghai is in high demand on whole time and the amount of Shanghai and Hong Kong, the 2nd demanded, accounts for approximately 80%.
Popular cities : Shanghai (50%), Hong Kong (29%), Qingdao (6%), Dalian (5%), etc. Respective time: 11:00pm - 5:59am (46%), 6:00am - 11:59am (28%), 12:00pm- 5:59pm (14%), 6:00pm-10:59pm (12%).
• Southeast Asia:
On respective time, 11:00pm- 5:59am and 6:00am- 11:59am accounts for more than 70%.
Popular cities : Bangkok (40%) Singapore (21%), Kuala Lumpur (13%), Jakarta (9%), etc.
Respective time:11:00pm- 5:59am (49%), 6:00am- 11:59am (27%), 12:00pm- 5:59pm (15%), 6:00pm- 10:59pm (9%).
• Other Regions: Some demand for new services to Taiwan, Korea, India, Australia, etc.
Cities requested: Taipei, Seoul, New Delhi, Melbourne, Mumbai, and many other cities.

The survey shows the demand for freighter flights in the early morning and late night. It implies their expected use of cargo service network at KIX which is a round-clock operating airport. We, Kansai International Airport Co.,LTD., will bring this result into promotion for new freighter flights and additional flights from now on.
